Robert S. Santander
Robert S. Santander (Of Counsel) is a seasoned insurance defense litigator whose practice concentrates on general liability, insurance coverage, premises liability and construction defect litigation. Upon graduating from law school, Robert worked at The Legal Aid Society of New York where he served as a Public Defender in the organization’s Brooklyn Office. Following this position, he embarked on a career that has focused primarily on insurance defense litigation. His experience includes working as a senior trial attorney for several large insurance carriers and law firms in and around New York City. He has also served as a Legal Manager and was instrumental in co-founding GMACI’s first nationwide House Counsel Office, and Rutgers Casualty Insurance Company’s House Counsel Office in New York. He has taken many cases to verdict in both New York and New Jersey and is NITA Certified.
Mr. Santander is admitted to practice in New York (1991), New Jersey (1990 ), as well as the federal courts in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the District of New Jersey. He received his undergraduate degree from Fordham University in 1979 and his JD degree from Rutgers University School Of Law – Newark in 1989. While at Rutgers, he was a member of the Faculty Appointments Committee, and a member of the Association of Latin – American Law Students, where he engaged in outreach activities (recruiting) with various New Jersey universities.
For several years, Mr. Santander has been a mentor to law students at Pace University School of Law. His activities at Pace have included serving as a Judge in the school’s annual moot court competitions and serving as Head Coach for the school’s Labor Law Moot Court Team.
